The Culture Marathon is an all-Russian educational project that consists of tests, assignments, and lesson scenarios developed by recognized experts. Alexey Munipov was an editor-in-chief and main curator of the project, as well as the author of music lesson scripts. Ika Munipov was involved in test making.
The project is supported by Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education. 5 million schoolkids are expected to take the test and take part in the lessons.
All lessons are project-based — one need to conduct noise orchestra, draw graphic score, plan an ideal school or shoot «martian» short movie. Topics include John Cage experiments, Cornelius Cardew scores, Eisenstein movie editing techniques, Robert Wilson scenery tricks, puppet shows and more. Every lesson include video examples, audio clips, guidelines and additional info.
Each theme (music, theater, cinema, architecture) includes lessons for different age groups.
Scripts were designed with schoolteachers in mind, but they can be used in libraries, museums and other cultural institutions that encourage children participation.
